Supporting trades education is essential for the future of the construction industry. As someone who has built custom homes for over 40 years, I’ve seen firsthand the critical need for skilled craftspeople. Programs like Casa Uber Alice in Fredericksburg and Canyon High School in New Braunfels are doing remarkable work by allowing students to build actual homes. These initiatives provide hands-on experience that helps cultivate the necessary skills in a field where such expertise is sadly declining.

I actively support these programs by participating in student projects such as tiny home competitions, where I often serve as a judge. By hosting students at my Parade of Homes houses, I get to showcase professional-level craftsmanship, inspiring the next generation. I also engage with organizations like the Homebuilders Association to fund and promote these educational opportunities. Speaking directly to students about careers in construction provides them insight into the rewarding paths that trades can offer.

Investing in young talent not only strengthens our industry but benefits the wider community. Quality construction relies on skilled trades, and by nurturing these talents today, we ensure their availability tomorrow. If you’re looking to work with a builder who values and invests in the future of construction, feel free to call me at (210) 490-0069.
